KPM hand-painted porcelain plaque after the painting titled “The Prayer of the Spinner” by Gerrit Dou (Netherlands/Holland, 1613-1675) originally executed in 1645, depicting an interior genre scene of a middle-aged woman in traditional Dutch garb seated beside an open window praying over the meal on the table before her with a spinning wheel and sleeping dog to the right all surrounded by household articles. Signed DOU to the spinning wheel lower right. Plaque inscribed with scepter above KPM mark above the letter B as well as measurements, en verso. Housed under glass in a molded giltwood Arts and Crafts style frame. Sight: 10 1/2″ H x 11″ W. Framed: 15 1/4″ H x 15 3/4″ W. Late 19th/Early 20th century.

French Sevres style porcelain and ormolu jardiniere, comprising a yellow ground wide bowl with hand-painted polychrome vignettes to each side, one depicting figures in an outdoor setting signed lower left LEBRUN and the other depicting various flowers, with gilt highlights throughout. The bowl is surmounted by a pierced gilt bronze foliate rim with stylized and scrolling acanthus leaf handles and is mounted onto a scrolling acanthus and foliate rococo gilt bronze base. Blue Sevres style "double L" mark reading "SV" to underside. 15" H x 23 1/2" W x 11 1/2" W. Late 19th/Early 20th century.

Pair of large French Sevres style bronze mounted lidded porcelain urns having fond jaune or yellow grounds with hand-painted landscape vignette decorations depicting lovers with putti, signed POITEVIN. Floral vignettes verso, floral band decoration to the lid and base, and gilt painted highlights throughout. Gilt bronze mounts throughout including an acorn finial to the lid, large ram’s head mask handles, and an acanthus leaf stem and base. Blue Sevres style mark to the underside of each lid. 24″ H x 13″ W. 19th century.

CONDITION: Both overall very good condition. The porcelain urn base rims covered by the gilt bronze collars with leaves previously were chipped on the edges and have been professionally restored. The restoration to the urn base rims is not viewable without removing the gilt bronze collars on the bases. [See more photos →]

Drum form clock surmounted by a cherub and flanked by satyr figures playing musical instruments, all on a shaped base with bird finials and ball feet. Porcelain clock face with Roman numeral markers and marked for English retailer Phillips Bros. & Son, 23 Cockspur Street London 2000. Works numbered 1042. 11" H x 11 1/2" W x 5 1/2" D. Together with a pair of matching figural satyr single garniture candlesticks with incised numbers to base underside. 10 3/8" H. Late 19th century.

Pair (2) of Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory polychrome porcelain figures after Auliczek, including "Vacchus als Herbst" depicting Bacchus, the Roman god of agriculture, wine, and fertility and "Ceres als Sommer" depicting Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, fertility, grains, the harvest, motherhood, the earth, and cultivated crops, both depicted partial nude and seated with their respective iconography, situated on naturalistic bases. Impressed Nymphenburg shield mark with numbers to underside of bases. Both approximately 14" H x 8" W x 7 1/2" D. Note: This pair is a 20th-century reissue of an 18th-century pair originally created by Domenikus Auliczek (Bohemia, 1734-1804) around 1754.

Three (3) German and English porcelain polychrome and parcel gilt "Count Bruhl's Tailor" figures by various makers, based on the original modeled in the 18th century by Meissen artist Johann Joachim Kandler (Germany, 1706-1775). Each depicts a satirical representation of the tailor of Count Bruhl, Chief Administrator to the King, who was considered the best-dressed man in Saxony (now Germany), in elaborate 17th century attire with a tricorn hat and wearing spectacles, riding atop a goat also wearing spectacles with various sewing tools, on a naturalistic base. One (1) with a blue Sitzendorf mark, one (1) with a blue Carl-Johann Gottlob Thieme, Dresden mark, and one (1) a gilt Chelsea mark, top or underside of bases. Ranging in size from 6 1/2" H x 2 1/4" W x 5 3/4" D to 10 1/4" H x 4 1/2" W x 7 1/2" D. All items early 20th century.

Circa 1898. 12th-13th items: Pair of French Edme Samson enameled porcelain Armorial compotes or tazzas in an 18th century Chinese Export Armorial style, with central polychrome and parcel-gilt coat-of-arms decoration with banner reading "Sola Virtus Invicta" (Virtue Alone is Invincible) surrounded by floral sprays and a spearhead interior border, polychromed floral and geometric decorations to rims and round bases. 1st-2nd items: Two (2) majolica hand-painted portrait tiles, likely Italian, depicting Renaissance-style bust portraits of a male and female with scrolling foliate border to lower edge. Unmarked. Both mounted to wooden panels with hanging loops, en verso. Tiles approximately 13" H x 6 1/2" W x 1 1/4" D. Panels: 15" H x 9 1/2" W x 1" D. Late 19th/early 20th century. 3rd-4th items: Two (2) Emaux de Longwy, France enamel pottery items, including one (1) centerpiece bowl with scrolling foliate decorations on a blue ground, a scalloped rim, and two handles (2 3/4" H x 10 3/4" W); and one (1) square tile depicting a tropical scene with birds in a quatrefoil border on a blue ground housed in a wooden frame (9 3/4" square). Green maker's mark stamp and additional numeral ink inscriptions to underside of bowl. Circa 1955-85.

PROVENANCE: The collection of Dr. Andrew Wilkerson, by descent from the estate of Vernon and Vicki Meche, Iron City, Tennessee.

CONDITION: All items in overall good condition. Majolica tiles with surface grime, scattered, minute areas of loss to surface (possibly in the making). Tile markings likely obscured by frames. Longwy items with crazing, minor losses to enamel. [See more photos →]

Three (3) Cybis hand-painted porcelain horse sculptures, including one (1) titled "Oceania" from the Sea King's Steed collection, depicting a white horse with a mermaid tail surrounded by crashing waves, signed and numbered "Cybis #52" to back left edge of sculpture; one (1) Bicentennial Carousel Horse titled "Ticonderoga", depicting a white horse in patriotic American regalia, mounted to a twisted brass pole and secured to a rectangular ebonized base, signed and numbered "Cybis #148" to underside of sculpture; and one (1) depicting two white horses with flowers and ribbons in their manes and tails, signed "Cybis" to underside of back left legs and numbered "#132" to back right edges of base. All with additional impressed Cybis marks to undersides of sculptures and edges of bases. Ranging in size from 7 3/4" H x 12" W x 4" D to 13" H x 12" W x 6 1/2" D. All items fourth quarter 20th century.

PROVENANCE: The Collection of Michael and Peggy Mahoney, by descent from the historic homes of Clarkland Farm at Bryan's Station and Cherrycote, Lexington, Kentucky.

Top fitted with removable porcelain cap and base fitted with brass spigot. 14 1/4" H x 12 1/2" dia. 19th century. 2nd item: English Neoclassical orb form silverplated hot water or beverage urn having reeded legs, paw feet, bail handles, front spout, and burner to the base. Unmarked. 18" H x approx. 11" dia. 19th century.
