Barren County, Kentucky, cherry tobacco box, on a later taper leg stand. Dovetailed construction and hinged lid, with locking plate marked “PATENT” on the swivel latch. Measures 13 3/4 in. L x 13 3/8 in. W x 25 5/8 in. H. Mid 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Living Estate of Sally Johnson Harlan. By descent in the family of Isaac Harlin (1808-1851) or his son Samuel Harlin (1843-1933) of Barren County, KY.
CONDITION: Overall good exterior condition; interior has some circular staining on the base. Lid hinges may have been replaced, and the lock has broken latch.
