South Carolina, yellow pine blanket chest having a rectangular molded lid secured by decorative iron strap hinges with floral terminals, opening to reveal a lidded till, a dovetailed case with an iron escutcheon, ogee base molding, and iron strap handles to the sides. All resting on bulbous turned feet. 24 in. H x 50 1/2 in. W. x 23 1/4 in. D. Possilby Coastal Carolina area, 18th century.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with a refinished surface. Scratches and wear primarily to the top. Repairs and minor losses to lip molding. Crab lock missing from interior front. Does not retain a key.
