An American benchmade Sheraton-style bowfront server or console cabinet of narrow proportions, figured mahogany primary and likely poplar secondary, having a shaped top with circular corners above one full cockbeaded drawer fitted with brass pulls and two doors, all flanked by turned and reeded pilasters terminating into tapering legs and brass-capped feet. 43 3/4 in. H x 29 1/2 in. W x 21 1/4 in. D. 4th quarter 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Living Estate of Sally Johnson Harlan, by descent from her ancestor Dr. William Leroy Broun (b. 1827). Broun was a professor at the University of Georgia and later president at the Georgia Agricultural and Mechanical College (a branch of the University of Georgia) from 1872-1875. He later served as president of what is now known as Auburn University, from 1882 until his death in 1902.
CONDITION: Very good condition with an older surface and very minor abrasions and bruises.
