1st item: English Edwardian painted satinwood caned settee, the rectangular caned backrests having two painted panels depicting frolicking cupids, with curved armrests, caned sides and seat, and turned legs fitted with castors, with painted foliate decoration throughout. 37 1/2 in. H x 45 in. W x 21 1/4 in. D. 2nd item: English Edwardian painted satinwood caned side chair having one painted panel on the oval caned backrest depicting a cupid, caned shaped seat, and turned legs with painted foliate decoration throughout. 35 1/2 in. H x 19 in. W x 17 in. D. Both pieces, Late 19th/Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Ian M. Mathison, Murfreesboro TN and Big Rapids, MI.
CONDITION: Settee: Break to the top of the inside left arm and to the right side around the oval pane. Minor scattered cane breaks and wear. Wood added to the top of the caned seat and the front right leg, with looseness. Chair: Overall good condition with very minor scattered cane breaks and wear.
