Miniature English Hepplewhite style chest with mahogany veneer, line inlay, and inlaid diamond-shaped escutcheon. Sarcophagus form with rectangular hinged top, opening to a flat shallow recessed surface above an open storage compartment. 2 dovetailed drawers with wreath and urn stamped brass pulls. Brass bail handles on each side. Square tapered legs, all terminating in brass castors. 20 3/4 in. H x 14 in. W x 9 1/2 in. D. Late 19th century/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Ian M. Mathison, Murfreesboro TN and Big Rapids, MI.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Top right hinge on lid interior has a partial break. Trim on right side of bottom drawer is loose. Top has possible old lock repair scar. Storage compartment below lid opens directly into the top drawer. Missing key.
