1st – 2nd items: A near pair of Chinese carved cinnabar lacquer vases, over metal, each with detailed figural landscape decoration and floral motifs, including stylized scrolling lotus or taotie mask and carved lids having lotus bud finials. Both fitted with carved hardwood stands. 11 1/4 in. H. Late 19th/Early 20th century. 3rd item: Antique Chinese or Japanese Meiji cloisonne plaque depicting swimming carp on a blue ground, the reverse with inlaid wirework forming cloud designs. Pierced metal Baroque style circular frame with cherub, floral and shell designs, and hook to back to allow hanging on a wall. Plaque: 11 in. Diameter. Frame: 18 in. Diameter. Plaque late 19th – early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Middle Tennessee Collection.
CONDITION: 1st – 2nd items: Heavy oxidation to the metal base of each urn with losses and rusting to the interiors. Scattered hairlines to cinnabar, mostly to the lids and bases. Lids do not sit flush. 3rd item: Front of plaque in good condition with a few small spots of pitting, some minor losses to edges. Enameling losses to reverse. Frame is in excellent condition, likely newer than the plaque.
