English Arts & Crafts style oak metamorphic library chair, convertible to stairs, with quatrefoil and decorative cut outs to back rails. Seat is hinged at front, allowing crestrail to be tipped forward, converting the base to a four-step library ladder with tooled leather on steps. Metal hook to latch on one side. 35" H x 17 3/4" W x 16 1/2" D. English, mid to late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Richard J. Eskind, Nashville.
CONDITION: Scattered abrasions and surface wear throughout. Minor lifting along edges of leather. Minute area of green paint spatters to crestrail.
