With Hiram Hoelzer, New York conservator’s label affixed to the stretcher. Housed in a molded giltwood frame. Sight: 29 3/8 in. H x 24 3/9 in. W. Framed: 32 1/2 in. H x 27 1/2 in. W. Likely late 18th or early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Michael Spalding, Nashville, TN.
CONDITION: Canvas has been lined. With fine craquelure throughout. Marked retouching from multiple restoration campaigns throughout, likely primarily executed by Hiram Hoelzer, New York, including to the face, coat, hair, and background, primarily outside of the most detailed passages. See UV photography. Frame with minor cracking, abrasions, and losses, especially to corners.
