Lot 523: Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver, 4″ Barrel, 1853

Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver, .31 caliber, serial number 81665, all visible serial numbers matching, including cylinder with the engraved stage coach scene. Top of the barrel is marked with two line stamp “Address Sam L Colt New-York City”; left side of the frame with “Colts Patent”. Walnut stocks, octagonal barrel, brass trigger guard and back strap, checkered hammer, standard sights, Barrel 4 in. L. Overall 8 1/2 in. L. Serial number corresponds to year 1853.

CONDITION: Crisp action, cylinder advances smoothly; loading lever functions correctly. Approximately 10-15% original finish remaining, leaving a gray patina with slight pitting; bore with wear, but strong rifling.
