US Springfield Model 1816 musket converted to percussion, with bayonet. Lock plate with “Springfield” and 1839 date. Smoothbore .69 caliber, metal ramrod, dark brown patina. Butt plate stamped “US” as well as front of trigger guard. Fitted with bayonet, marked with US stamps. Barrel: 42 in. L; Musket: 58 3/4 in; with bayonet: 76 1/2 in. L.
CONDITION: Action operational, hammer holds at half and full, releases with trigger pull. Old refinish to stock. Hammer replaced. Front swivel absent. Bayonet not original to musket.
