Grouping of 8 John J. Audubon (American, 1785-1851) prints from the first octavo issue of THE BIRDS OF AMERICA, hand colored lithographs by J.T. Bowen. 4 framed and 4 unframed. 1st – 4th items: Four (4) framed Audubon bird prints, including No. 12 Pl. 58 Cooper’s Flycatcher; No. 13 Pl. 63 Pennee Flycatcher; No. 24. Pl. 116 Rock Wren; No 24. Pl 119 Wood Wren.  All measuring Sight: 10 in. L x 6 in. W. Framed: 14 1/4 in. L x 9 3/4 in. W. 5th – 8th items:  Four (4) unframed bird prints, in protective sleeves.  Includes:  No. 24 Pl. 117 Great Carolina Wren; No. 25 Pl. 121 Winter Wren; No. 37 Pl. 185.  Stanley Goldfinch; and No. 38 Pl. 187 Brown Finch. All measuring 10 1/2 in. L x 7 in. W. All with text: “Drawn from Nature by J.J. Audubon, FRSFLS / Lith. Printed & Co. by T. Bowen, Philad.” 

PROVENANCE:  Collection of Mr. & Mrs. Daniel Klatt, Franklin, TN.

CONDITION: All framed prints in good condition, not examined out of frame. Unframed prints have some chipping and tearing at edges and taped pages. Varying degrees of yellowing/toning to paper.
