Three (3) hanging apothecary show globes with elaborately etched glass ovoid forms and gilt brass hardware. Each stamped “Pat’d June 16 1891,” and most likely produced by Whitall Tatum (Millville, NJ). 19 in. H x 11 1/2 in. W. 33 in. H with chain. American, late 19th century. Note: These globes would traditionally be filled with a colorful liquid (red, green, or blue) and used as a pharmacist’s trade sign.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Ian M. Mathison, Murfreesboro TN and Big Rapids, MI.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Some oxidation to gilt metal and cloudy spots inside the glass, consistent with age and use.
