1st item: English Edwardian mahogany jardiniere plant stand or wine cooler, featuring vertical slats forming the bucket-shaped body, fitted with brass lion head mount and ring handles, and a removable brass liner. Ring turned tapering pedestal and triangular base with concave sides and ball feet. 19 1/2 in. H x 16 in. W. Late 19th century. 2nd item: English mahogany wine caddy or decanter box. Rectangular form with 6 compartments and a brass handle, with 4 stretchers attached to the square taper legs. 16 in. H x 17 in W. x 15 in. D. Late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Ian M. Mathison, Murfreesboro TN and Big Rapids, MI.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with minor wear and scattered crazing to the veneer. Wear and minor damage to the rim of the brass liner. 2nd item: Overall good condition, with some staining to interior and front exterior. Area of scratching with finish irregularity to one side. Some cracks to veneer of upper bottle separators and possible repairs. Screws on handle may have been refurbished or replaced.
