Edwardian Neoclassical style mahogany bracket clock, featuring gilt bronze pineapple finials at top and corners, and a flat rectangular pediment fitted on four sides with gilt bronze plaques depicting classical figures, over a molded cornice and frieze with applied mask and garland ornament. Center glazed door opens to dials with steel chapter rings surmounted by applied pierced gilt bronze spandrels. The door is flanked by gilt bronze Corinthian columns. Sides with decorative pierced gilt bronze grilles and handles. Molded, stepped base with scrolled gilt bronze feet. Overall: 25 in. H x 18 in. W x 12 in. D. English, circa 1900.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Deborah and Kent Vauclain Bissell, Sr., by descent in his family.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Works not checked or guaranteed. Pendulum present but detached. 1 1/2 in shrinkage crack to left side and a few shinkage cracks to lower edge of door. Some slight wear and oxidation to gilt bronze mounts. Key is present for door but door will not open. Winding key present. One finial is loose and needs secure reattachment. A few faint spots to finish on base and at keyhole on door.
