Antique Saryk Turkoman Ensi prayer rug, wool on wool. A red-ground central panel with leaf designs, flanked top and bottom by a wide inner border with flowering branch designs, all surrounded by an inner border. Wide woven twin animal elem border at the base. Woven in red, black, blue, purple, salmon, and cream colors. 6'' 2" x 5'' 1". Circa 1900.
PROVENANCE: Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.
CONDITION: Overall good condition, even light wear. Several areas of uneven wear with pile loss to the central left margin, approx. 1/2"-1" each. Old repair to upper left corner, approx. 1". One repair to lower right quadrant, approx. 1". Denim hangers applied to verso of top.
