Antique Beshir Turkestan room-sized or main carpet, wool on wool construction, red primary field having a central medallion with compass star and animal designs flanked by repeating geometric and stylized floral designs to the center field with seven primary borders. Woven in colors of red, blue, brown, yellow, and cream. 10'' 10" x 4'' 11". Last Quarter 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with moderate pile wear to each end and one outer corner with old repair. One horizontal repair to the center field, approx. 6" L. Both ends with losses and have been stabilized to prevent further loss.
