Oil painting after Fra Angelico, tondo style depiction of the Coronation of the Virgin (a circa 1440 fresco at the Convent of San Marco, Florence), likely a Grand Tour souvenir. Housed in a Gothic gilt wood frame by Martin O’Brien’s reknowned Chicago art gallery, O’Brien’s, first established in 1861, then relocated in 1876 to the 208 Wabash Avenue location on the label. Approximate dimensions: Sight: 14 in. W x 4 1/ 2 in. Dia. Frame: 23 3/4 in H x 15 1/2 W. x 1 1/2 in H. Italian, late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of James Drury, Lombard, Illinois.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with small scratches in places. Frame with repairs to the spires, and repaint/repair on the back.
