Two (2) East Tennessee Grindstaff pottery one-gallon stoneware jars. 1st item – Blount County, 1-gallon salt-glazed stoneware pottery straight-wall preserving jar marked for Grindstaff Pottery (1870 – 1890). Impressed mark reading W. GRINSTAFF and “1” denoting capacity, two incised lines below the rolled rim, beveled foot. 8 3/4 in. H. 2nd item – Tapered-wall 1-gallon jar with four incised lines below the flattened edge rim and a stamped “1” capacity mark associated with the Grindstaff pottery. 8 in. H.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Marty and David Black, Rockford, TN.
CONDITION: 1st jar very good condition. 2nd jar with chip to inner rim, otherwise overall good condition.
