Lot 224: Meat Market Double Sided Sign, E. Werthheimer

Double-sided trade sign for “E. Wertheimer Meat Market.”  Hand painted  yellow lettering with red accents on black painted metal, housed in wood frame painted black, with contemporary hanging hardware added.  Signed “major” bottom center, possibly for a local sign painter.  35 1/2 in. L x 24 in. H x 3 in. D.  1st quarter 20th century, or earlier, likely from a meat market in the Gansevort area of Brooklyn, New York. 

CONDITION: Paint loss, scratches, and weathering to both sides. Eye hook hanging hardware has been added to the more weathered side.
