Southern walnut press in the old surface, poplar secondary. Consisting of a cornice with an overhanging board having a center bead over an ogee molding above a plain frieze, two cabinet doors with twelve panes and lower blind rectangular panels. Three interior shelves align with mullions and have applied plate stops. Bottom section with a deep ogee molding receiving the top over a plain rectangular top over two paneled doors and one interior shelf. The case rests on tapered feet. 46 1/2 in. W x 15 3/4 in. D x 86 1/4 in. H. Possibly North Carolina, circa 1825.
PROVENANCE: Living Estate of Paula Brown.
CONDITION: Some wear to the original surface near door openings, two panes on right side may be later replacements. Examination of underside of feet does not indicate height loss.
