East Tennessee cherry chest of drawers in the Hepplewhite style, poplar secondary. Top with an overhang and an ogee molding over four graduated dovetailed drawers with scratch beading and brass escutcheons. Oval brasses appear original; locks missing. Full-length dustboards of poplar. Shaped apron with French feet and spur returns. Three vertical backboards with beveled edge. 43 1/4 in. L x 22 1/4 in. W x 40 3/8 in. H. Possibly Greene Co., TN, circa 1800.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Donna C. Rogers, Greeneville, TN.
CONDITION: Chest in the old surface. Old surface scratches and indentations throughout. Second drawer with drawer sides built up and third drawer with slight build up of drawer sides. Some old vertical cracks to the apron. Black spray residue on underside of base – possibly for insect treatment. Feet and blocking appear original.
