Two (2) Eastern North Carolina stoneware pottery jugs. 1st item: Stamped POE & CO for Edgar Allen Poe (Cumberland County, 1858-1934). Tall, slightly ovoid form alkaline jug with a pulled handle applied to the upper shoulder and neck. Stamped POE & CO to the right of the handle with an incised 2 denoting the gallon capacity. 14 3/4" H. 2nd item: Stamped E. A. POE. Semi-ovoid form salt-glaze jug with a pulled handle applied to the upper shoulder and neck, and stamped E. A. POE. to the right of the handle. 11 3/4" H. Late 19th/early 20th century.
CONDITION: 1st item: Very good condition. 2nd item: Very good condition with a couple of kiln marks on the upper shoulder.
