East Tennessee, Washington County, painted mustard yellow pie safe with silver/white painted tins. Poplar wood throughout. Scrubbed rectangular top over two dovetailed drawers with wooden pulls over two cupboard doors, each having two punched tin panels crimped together horizontally with heart and vertical “bowtie” designs; each side with two vertical punched tins decorated with a horizontal “bowtie” design. The smaller side tin with a bowtie design and a diamond to the center, the longer tin with horizontal bowties. Case with flat base molding ending with bulbous turned Sheraton feet. 56 1/4 in. W x 19 1/4 in. D x 46 3/4 in H. 3rd quarter of the 19th century.
CONDITION: Overall in very good condition with the safe case retaining most of the original paint except for the scrubbed top. Exfoliation of the silver/white paint on the door tins. Interior with early 20th-century light yellow paint.
