East Tennessee redware pottery Jug, attributed to the Cain pottery of Sullivan Co., TN, with lead or iron oxide glaze to exterior and interior, smoothed extruded handle, two incised lines around shoulder, beaded base, and tapered rim. Base unglazed, a couple of unglazed areas on underside of handle and rim. 7 5/8" H. 3rd quarter 19th century. Note – the smoothed extruded handle, glaze impefections from the firing process, beaded base, and form are typical of the Cain pottery. Found in Knoxville, TN. Condition: Overall very good condition with glaze imperfections from the firing process consistent with other Cain pottery forms, minor chip to beaded base edge.
