Albrecht Durer (German, 1471-1528) etching on laid paper, “The Resurrection,” from the Engraved Passion series, 1512. A Meder b or d (of d) impression, without the vertical scratches to Christ’s left thigh. With Johann Wilhelm Nahl’s (1803-c. 1880) stamped collector’s mark to verso (Lugt 1954). Ref.: Bartsch 21, Meder 132. Floated under glass in a giltwood frame with black textile mat and gilt fillet. Sheet: 4 9/16 in. H x 2 7/8 in. W. Framed: 22 in. H x 20 1/2 in. W.

CONDITION: An evenly inked impression with strong contrasts, sheet trimmed to plate mark. With staining to drapery around waist and to left of Christ.
