1st item: M. Woodruff Cortland stoneware pottery churn, decorated with cobalt tulip designs and highlights to maker’s marks. 6-gallon capacity and applied handles. 19 in. H x 11 in.D.; 2nd Item: 1-gallon White’s Utica pottery jug decorated with cobalt floral design, incised maker’s mark, and pulled handle. 11 in. H. x 7 1/2 D. Both pieces last half 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Collection of Christine Heineman, Garden City New York, by descent to present consignor.
CONDITION: Item 1: Crack encircles base edge, possibly a glued “freeze” crack. Appears stable. Item 2: Overall good condition, with light scratches to the jug rim and kiln drips to the shoulder.
