John Charles Maggs (United Kingdom, 1819-1896) oil on canvas stagecoach scene depicting the coach with horses and riders traveling on an open road during a winter snowstorm, with Stonehenge in the far left background, 1895. Signed and dated lower left and housed in a molded 19th-century gilt wood frame. Sight: 9 1/2" H x 34" W. Framed: 14 1/2" H x 41" W.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition, with craqueleure to snowy ground in lower third. Minor cracking with tenting to ground at lower left, below lead horse.
