1st-4th items: Set of four (4) Chinese nesting tables or pedestal stands, molded inset tops with openwork friezes carved in dragon and cloud motifs, atop square incised legs joined by molded stretchers. Ranging in size from 19 1/2" H x 10 3/4" H to 29 1/2" H x 17 1/4" W. Early 20th century. 5th item: Carved Chinese hardwood pedestal or plant stand with pierced foliate carved sides and carved apron, molded legs, and plain stretcher base. 33" H x 15 1/4" W x 10 1/8" D. Late 19th to early 20th century.

CONDITION: All tables in overall good condition and structurally stable. All with overall wear, stand with heavier use wear and some fading to surface, small loss to one leaf/foliate return to one side of apron. [See more photos →]

Pair of Qing Dynasty Chinese hardwood trunks or low chests, each having two red stained drawer fronts and black painted surrounds with pierced decorative hardware throughout, including drawer pulls with crane decoration and carrying handles to the sides. Each trunk measures 19 3/4" H x 33 3/4" W x 16" D. Late 19th/early 20th century.

PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation to benefit the acquisitions fund.

CONDITION: Both trunks or chests in overall good condition with general use and age wear throughout. Evidence of insect damage on a couple of drawer fronts. [See more photos →]

George III brass mounted inlaid Balloon Chime Clock by Jabez Smith, London. Crossbanded satinwood case with urn finial having rams head masks at sides, over a pagoda top, inlaid medallion with incised floral decoration, and balloon shaped center enclosing a dial with Roman numerals and shaped pierced steel hands, signed Jabez Smith, Fenchurch Street, London. Raised on bronze leafy feet. Glass rear door enclosing time and strike brass works and pendulum with steel bell. Note: 'Watchmakers Clockmakers of the World' by Brian Loomes lists Jabez Smith as working in London from 1786-1795. Overall: 22 1/2" H x 12 1/2" W x 9" D. Circa 1790.

PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.

CONDITION: Some chipping to perimeter of dial; perimeter to glass cover is brittle, shrinkage cracks to veneer around floral medallion. Floral medallion likely not original. Crossbanded veneer exhibits some small chips, repairs, shrinkage and a few spots of lifting (primarily to rear). Rear door is loose on hinge. Some losses to paper lining of interior. Works appear to be complete and the pendulum appears to be the original. Not functioning at time of inspection, works need to be cleaned. [See more photos →]

Middle Tennessee, likely Davidson County, inlaid Hepplewhite sugar chest, walnut primary, poplar secondary. Hinged top with cleated ends, over a vertical rectangular case with exposed dovetails, the front with string inlay outlining perimeter, single dovetailed drawer with string inlay and brass pulls, flanked by string inlaid stiles; barber pole inlay to lower edge of skirt; kite shaped inlaid escutcheons. Four squared and inlaid tapering legs with partially present cuff inlay. 36" H x 24" W x 15 1/2" D. Circa 1810. PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.

CONDITION: Older refinished surface. Interior well missing original dividers and bottom board replaced. Hinges original. Drawer sides have been built up, some sun fading visible to front and one side of case. Brass pulls a later replacement. Back edge of top with an early replaced strip, approximately 1/8" width. East Tennessee walnut pie safe, poplar secondary. Rectangular top over two dovetailed drawers with wood pulls, two cupboard doors each having four punched tins decorated with starburst circles and hearts in the corners, sides with three punched tins with similar decoration as the front, over a base with turned Sheraton feet. 49 1/2" H x 52" W x 16 3/4" D. Mid 19th century.

Kentucky or Middle Tennessee Sheraton walnut sugar chest, poplar secondary. Rectangular form, top with breadboard ends and molded edge above a divided conforming case with paneled sides, one lower dovetailed and scratch beaded drawer with wood pulls, case rests on turned Sheraton legs. Interior well reinforced on the sides with original flat panels to seal the interior well. Case and drawer with brass escutcheon. 34 1/8" H x 33 18" W x 18 1/8" D. Second quarter of the 19th century.

CONDITION: Overall very good condition with older refinish of exterior and interior well. Some wood shrinkage and scattered staining to top. Area of loss to one rear foot turning. [See more photos →]

Southern, likely Kentucky, two drawer cherry table, poplar secondary. Overhanging top above two graduated cockbeaded and dovetailed drawers with wood pulls flanked by reeded stiles transitioning in turned and reeded legs and a shaped skirt. 30 1/4" H x 22" W x 15 3/8" D. Circa 1820.

PROVENANCE: the Estate of Emilee Barnes Frincke, Knoxville, Tennessee.

CONDITION: Older cleaned surface, top with some staining and abrasions. Top drawer originally cut for lock with an early walnut veneer over the drawer. Escutcheon on lower drawer, but never fitted for lock. Old 3/4" strip replacement to back edge. [See more photos →]

Kentucky Sheraton cherry sugar chest, poplar secondary, in the old original surface. Rectangular form, post and panel construction, the hinged lid with breadboard ends, divided interior, and double ring turned legs. 32" H x 36" W x 19 3/4" D. Second quarter of the 19th century.

Southern, Kentucky or Tennessee, cherry work table in the old brown surface, poplar secondary. Comprised of an overhanging plain top, one dovetailed drawer with wood pull and brass escutcheon, and turned Sheraton legs. 30" H x 18 3/4" W x 22 1/8" D. Circa 1840.

Walnut sugar table attributed to Wythe County, Virginia, poplar secondary. Simple molded hinged square top over a plain square case with two interior dividers. Delicate ring turned and tapered legs are extensions of stiles. Retains the original lock. 27 3/4" H x 18 1/2" W x 16 7/8" D. Circa 1825.

Early Warren County, Kentucky cherry corner cupboard, one-piece construction, poplar secondary. Cavetto molded cornice and canted sides with reeded panels, flanking two paneled upper doors enclosing four shelves, above one central dovetailed drawer flanked by panels with incised fylfot or pinwheel decoration, two lower paneled doors, and bracket feet. 85 1/2" H x 48 1/2" W x 24 3/4" D. Circa 1800-1810. Originally purchased in 1995, Bud Greenup Auction of the estate of Loraine "Cricket" Dunn. A copy of that auction catalog is available to the winning bidder.

Consisting of an slightly overhanging top with one dovetailed drawer having a brass escutcheon and key over turned Sheraton turned legs. 29" H x 23" W x 18 1/2" D. Consisting of an overhanging top with one dovetailed drawer having a glass pull over turned Sheraton turned legs terminating into spiked feet. 28 3/4" H x 22" W x 21 3/4" D.

Central Kentucky Sheraton cherry and poplar sugar chest. Rectangular top with ogee molded edge above a conforming case with kite inlaid escutcheon and reeded stiles, two dovetailed drawers with brass pulls, all resting on turned and reeded legs. 34 1/4" H x 35 1/4" W x 19 1/4" D. Circa 1825.

PROVENANCE: Mark Anthony Grant Estate, Clarksville, Tennessee.

CONDITION: Older refinish with some shrinkage to sides of case. Replaced hinges with backboard having an approximately 1 1/2" strip replaced. Escutcheon replaced with shadow line of larger old escutcheon. Drawers with scattered insect damage. The strip on the bottom of case between the drawers has been replaced. [See more photos →]

Southern cherry harvest table, likely Kentucky. Consisting of a plain two-board rectangular top over a shaped apron and ring turned legs. 29 1/2" H x 71 3/4" L x 28 1/4" D. Third quarter of the 19th century.

Miniature Classical chest of drawers, possibly a jewelry chest, attributed to New England, cherry, mahogany and bird's eye maple primary, white pine secondary. Hinged mahogany lid with maple crossbanding lifts to reveal a rectangular well, above four dovetailed drawers with bird's eye maple fronts and gilt brass lion mask pulls, flanked by fully turned columns, double recessed and beaded side panels and ball feet. 19" H x 15" W x 8 1/2" D. Mid-Atlantic tiger maple flat wall hanging cupboard, poplar secondary. Comprised of an ogee molded cornice above one paneled door opening to three interior shelves, ogee molded base. Back fitted with hanging brackets. 36 1/4" H x 28 1/4" W x 8 1/4" D. Second quarter of the 19th century.

American Hepplewhite inlaid serpentine card table, mahogany and cherry primary woods with maple and various light wood and pitch inlays, white pine and walnut (fly rail) secondary. Serpentine hinged top with line inlaid edge, over a shaped frieze with geometric line inlaid reserves including a central panel with dark inlay. Four square tapered legs with string inlay, arched at the tops, terminating in inlaid cuffs with some darker wood stringing at the ends. 29 1/4" H x 36" W x 35" D (with leaf open). Delaware Valley, possibly Chester County, Pennsylvania two-piece Queen Anne high chest on stand, walnut primary, poplar and white pine secondary. Upper section having a flat top with ogee molded cornice above three short drawers and two half- and three full-length graduated dovetailed drawers. Brass batwing pulls. Lower section with ogee molding above a valanced skirt and cabriole legs having ogee bracket returns and terminating in trifid feet. Label inside top right drawer for Schiffer Antiques, Pennsylvania, other illegible label and shadow lines for previous labels en verso. 65" H x 41 1/2" W x 21 1/2" D. Late 18th century.

Mid-Atlantic two-piece corner cupboard consisting of poplar with a red wash and lower doors of burled walnut and bird's eye maple. White pine secondary. The upper section having a cove cornice above one glazed door with eight panes and white painted interior; lower section with an ogee medial molding over arched paneled lower doors with light blue painted interior. Case rests on bulbous turned feet. 87 1/2" (total H) x 39" W x 23" D. Possibly Pennsylvania, 2nd Qtr. 19th century.

New England Hepplewhite mahogany and flame mahogany inlaid server or serving table, pine secondary. Comprised of an overhanging molded top above two full length dovetailed drawers with line inlay and finely figured veneers, oval brass pulls, and pull out slide having brass pulls between the drawers. Tall tapering Hepplewhite legs with line inlay are extensions of stiles. Appears to have a museum accession number on the back corner, "117.1920". 38 1/2" H x 31 3/4" W x 19 1/2" D. First quarter of the 19th century.

CONDITION: Refinished. Top with expected general wear, top and sides with areas of wood shrinkage. One drawer with minor buildup of drawer sides and reinforcement of drawer supports. Pulls appear old but not original. [See more photos →]

American Classical ham or mixing table, possibly Anthony Quervelle, Philadelphia, or Baltimore; mahogany with flame mahogany veneers, poplar secondary. Rectangular ogee molded top above an applied scrolled decorative frieze, single trapezoidal form paneled cabinet door opening to three shelves and paneled sides, on a flaring and molded base with front scrolled feet and rear turned feet with applied castors. 44" H x 33" W x 18" D. CONDITION: Overall good condition with French polish. While most of these forms had marble tops, this wood top appears to be very early and may be original. Some small losses and repair to veneer on the molded base. Some age shrinkage to top with putty infill. Repair strip along the left side of the door's stile. Early replaced strip to back edge of top. An American ebonized and marquetry inlaid Aesthetic Movement jardiniere, possibly Herter Brothers workshop. Comprised of a rectangular shaped planter with black metal liner, the exterior with stylized floral marquetry inlay and reeded corners above squared and carved tapering legs with carved and square capitals and repeating carved decoration to the lower legs and feet, all joined by a shaped and inlaid stretcher with parcel gilt highlights. 39 1/2" H x 44 1/4" W x 13 3/4" D. Late 19th century.

English Regency or American Classical Center Table, mahogany and mahogany veneers with oak secondary wood; circular black marble top with molded edge over a hexagonal baluster form pedestal and tripodal plinth base with carved volutes and demi-rosettes at ends, raised on ball feet. Dimensions: H: 27 3/4 inches x 38 1/4 diameter. 19th century.

British, possibly Irish Hepplewhite server or huntboard, European hardwood and softwoods. Rectangular top with molded edge and breadboard ends, over two scratch beaded and dovetailed drawers with batwing brasses and medial molding over slightly tapered square legs with fretwork corner returns. Dimensions: 37" H x 43 1/4" W x 18 5/8" D. Late 18th/Early 19th century.

Rare Sheraton inlaid mahogany Standing Desk, also known as a "Stand Up Desk" or Collector's Cabinet Desk. Tall rectangular case having brass gallery and a slant front top with reeded edge, opening to reveal a fitted interior with string-inlaid central prospect door and four pigeon holes with scalloped valances, atop a reeded base. Hinged and inlaid faux two-door front, opens on chain supports to reveal a green leather writing surface and a bank of eight one-half length drawers above one full length drawer. Curved apron with string inlaid edges, reeded stiles and four tall turned and reeded tapering legs. Old, previous owner label on back inscribed "Revd. Dr. Wilson, New Place House, Southampton." 50 1/2" H x 27 1/2" W x 20 3/4" D. English, circa 1800. Purchased from Gary E. Young Antiques, Centreville, MD, 1977. Pair of Italian Baroque gilt carved mirrors, the crests with heavily carved floral baskets within scrolling cartouches, the sides with scrolling and pierced foliate and leaf decoration above a foliate bottom border. Both fitted with central rectangular mirror plates and individual mirror plates within the carved frame. 48 1/2" H x 24" W. 18th century.

CONDITION: Some scattered wear and losses to frame and some old areas of repair. Losses to some of the individual mirror plates as well as some cracks and silvering. May have originally been attached to tables or larger objects. [See more photos →]

Pair of small Neoclassical style parcel gilt and polychrome painted pine console tables, each having a five sided top with polychrome paint simulating stone, over a conforming frieze with applied giltwood ribbon, swag and rosette carved moldings, supported on a single tapering square leg with fluting at top and gilt molded husk and leaf decoration on a square foot. Each 36" H x 22" W x 11" D. Italian, 19th century.

PROVENANCE: The Estate of Barbara K. Lipman, Memphis, Tennessee.

CONDITION: Wear, losses, and alligatoring to paint. One leg with loss to leaf carving near foot. Shrinkage splits to top of one table, largest measuring 15 1/2" L. [See more photos →]

Large Continental Overmantel or Trumeau mirror. Upper section with an oil on canvas landscape depicting multiple figures in the foreground; a villa, body of water, and structures on top of a rocky cliff mid-ground; and rolling hills and mountains in the background; all within a carved gilt rococo style surround. Lower section with mirror having gilt carved shell and reeded molded surround. Both sections mounted onto a large green painted wooden support having a gilt cornice and giltwood molded reserves at each side with rococo ornaments at top and carved gilt urns to the lower sections. 72" H x 47" W. Late 18th/early 19th century.

CONDITION: Some overall grime, minute scattered losses, and craquelure to canvas. Mirror with some scattered losses to silvering. Frame with overall scattered general wear, heavier wear along the base. Back of mirror having contemporary corner supports at base. [See more photos →]

George III Irish Hepplewhite inlaid harewood card or game table, rectangular overhanging top with inlaid oval patera, string inlay and crossbanded edges; straight skirt with highly figured veneer, and four square tapering veneered legs. Hinged top opens to a green baize lined surface and is supported on a rear fly leg. 29 1/3"H x 32"W x 16"D. Circa 1790.

PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.

CONDITION: Some fading and warping to top creating a slightly curved surface; scattered cracks, lifting and replacements to veneer on top; 4" area of loss to inlay at top edge; veneer chips and patches up to 1" L on legs. Interior baize replaced. Some worm holes to rear skirt. 2" area of loose veneer at rear corner left edge of top. [See more photos →]

English longcase clock with swimming swan automaton dial, John Chambley of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, circa 1790. Mahogany and mahogany veneers with pine and oak secondary. Hood with a broken arch pediment, brass rosettes, and brass finials, and arched door flanked by fluted columns; finely grained veneered waist door with scalloped top flanked by fluted columns, above a box base with chamfered sides and applied square molding with curved corners, all raised on ogee bracket feet. Painted metal dial with swimming swan automaton in the arch, shell painted spandrels, Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture, signed John Chambley Wolverhampton on face and stamped FRANCIS on backplate. Brass 8 day works and pendulum, iron weights. Pendulum and weights appear to be original. Dimensions overall: 93" H, 23" W, 9 2/8" D.

CONDITION: CONDITION: Works appear to be original. Missing suspension string for pendulum. Not functional at time of inspection, needs to be cleaned. Glass is likely a replacement. 4 1/2" vertical veneer patch to beveled side of base, possible keystone shaped veneer patch to center of hood door at top of arch. Small veneer patch to hood door below clock face. Loss to left side swan's neck pediment. Some possible repainting to dial; background is crazed with one area of instability near center, close to flaking off. Small area (about 2"L) of wood loss to top of hood on one side. Shrinkage cracks to door and one side below hood. Left front foot with loss of height. Veneer patch to side of waist at lock strike (lock strike appears replaced). 17th century German painted "Armada" or war chest with overall overlapping riveted iron strap fittings. The lid with a covered central keyhole, the front with a raised decorative false lock and two hasps, fitted with shaped iron carrying handles to each sides. Polychrome paint decoration throughout including a green painted ground with painted landscape decoration on the top and front panels and foliate decoration to the side panels and iron straps. The underside of the lid with decorative iron open work and raised lock cover. Fitted with an iron key. 16" H x 30" W x 16 1/4" D.

PROVENANCE: Private Chattanooga, TN collection.

CONDITION: Overall good condition with wear and oxidation commensurate with age. Scattered losses to painted panels with more significant losses to the front four painted panels. Retains a working key; lock mechanism functional, however, requires considerable force to open. [See more photos →]

Two (2) English Regency style folding or collapsible library ladders, housed in brown leather studded cases with hook closures. Approx. 102" H. 20th century.

East Tennessee (Sullivan County) cherry pie safe with walnut top, poplar secondary. Case attributed to John Wolfe (Piney Flats, 1810-1891). Rectangular top with rounded edges over three dovetailed drawers with wood pulls, two cupboard doors each having two punched tins decorated with urns and floral sprays, divided by a horizontal wood divider, paneled sides, over a base with shaped ogee molding and bold turned Sheraton feet. 50 7/8" H x 54 51/4" W x 18 1/2" D. Southern vernacular Hepplewhite sideboard or server with rope and tassel inlay, possibly Tennessee. Cherry, maple, walnut primary with other mixed hardwoods and poplar secondary. Plain rectangular top with ovolo corners over a conforming case, having one long dovetailed drawer with scallop inlaid edges and inlaid ellipses surrounding the round brass knobs, over one deep dovetailed drawer. Drawers are flanked by open rounded shaped corners, each having three dovetailed drawers at the back and open storage space at the top and front. Six square legs (which do not taper), having inlaid oval and elliptical reserves at upper stiles, with rope or cord and tassel inlay to legs where they intersect the lower edge of the case. Cuff inlay to feet. 42" H x 65" W x 30" D. First quarter 19th century. Note: This unusual, possibly unique Southern sideboard has a long history of passing through several prominent collections in the Southwestern Virginia/North Carolina and East/Middle Tennessee region. It was acquired by Frank L. Horton of Winston-Salem, NC from a Mrs. Webb of Shelby, North Carolina, then owned by Katharine A. Mundy of "The Columns," Lynchburg, Virginia for several years before being auctioned upon her death in 1980 by Wilson Galleries, Verona, Virginia to Malvern and Delle Brown of Nashville, Tennessee. The Browns sold the sideboard to Raymond White of Nashville in 1985. (A copy of the receipt from this 1985 purchase, along with a 1981 letter from Frank L. Horton to the Browns on MESDA letterhead, stating his past ownership of the sideboard, is available to the winning bidder). Also included is a copy of Malvern Brown's typed notes on the sideboard, stating the Wilson Galleries catalog had attributed the sideboard to Kentucky, but gave no source for that attribution. Mr. Brown stated he believed the board may not have originally had doors, but that doors were added (and removed) at some point in its history and that the six small drawers were later additions. He also believed the large lower center drawers may have been a replacement for three original side by side drawers.

CONDITION: The sideboard may have had form-fitted drawers to sides, with early modification of three smaller drawers in replacement. Later surface, top with some wood shrinkage and stains. Kentucky two piece walnut press or wall cupboard, poplar secondary. Upper section with ogee cornice above two paneled doors with kite inlaid escutcheon, lower section with mid-molding above two dovetailed drawers, two paneled doors with kite inlaid escutcheons, and bracket feet with shaped skirt and returns. 88 3/4" H x 44 1/2" W x 15" D. Circa 1815-1820.

Large Southern Sheraton sugar chest, poplar and pine with old applied red wash. Rectangular top with half round molding, case with unusual cleated divider and deep ogee medial molding, above one dovetailed drawer having dividers with wooden pulls, turned legs ending in disc feet. 35 3/4" H x 37" W x 23" D. Likely Southern Tennessee or Northern Georgia/Alabama, 2nd quarter 19th century.

Southern candelstand and miniature blanket chest, both likely Kentucky. 1st item: Cherry candlestand with circular top over a ring turned vasiform standard, resting on a tripod snake leg base. 27 1/2" H x 18" dia. Mid 19th century. 2nd item: Southern cherry candle box in the form of a miniature blanket chest, poplar secondary, the rectangular top with cleated ends above a rectangular case on short turned tapering feet. 7 3/4" H x 14 1/2" W x 6 1/2" D. Sheraton sugar chest, desk form, Kentucky or Southern Ohio, cherry primary, poplar secondary. Hinged slant front having breadboard ends and inlaid oval reserve of figured walnut, over four false drawers with barber pole inlaid edges, small round brass knobs and diamond shaped inlaid escutcheons. Stiles with lopers, extending into tapered turned feet. Plain sides and back. Interior fitted with three cockbeaded dovetailed drawers with round brass pulls and sliding door exposing a storage well beneath. Restorations. 24" H x 27 1/2" W x 18 5/8" D.

Southern Sheraton cherry two-drawer stand, likely Kentucky, poplar secondary. Plain slightly overhanging top above two dovetailed drawers with wooden pulls, the top drawer with brass escutcheon, ring turned Sheraton legs. 27 3/4" H x 20" W x 17 3/4" D. Circa 1840.

American mahogany Sheraton work table, likely New York, possibly Duncan Phyfe school, mahogany with mahogany veneer and poplar secondary. Top with projecting rounded front corners, above rounded and reeded stiles flanking two graduated dovetailed drawers with flame mahogany veneer and round ring form brass pulls and escutcheons. Top drawer with fitted interior. Turned and tapered legs and feet joined by a shaped undertier forming a lower shelf. 29 1/2" H x 20 1/2" W x 16 1/4" D. Circa 1820. English or American Hepplewhite inlaid mahogany demilune card table. Hinged D shaped top with striated veneer and lighter wood inlay to the top edge, over an apron with inlaid center oval inside an inlaid rectangular reserve resembling quartersawn sycamore. Four square tapering legs headed by oval inlaid reserves, with string inlay terminating in inlaid cuffs. 28" H x 35 1/2" W x 35" D (Each leaf 17 1/2"). Circa 1800. Late 18th century blanket or marriage chest, possibly American, Ohio or Ohio Valley, with Pennsylvania German influence; painted chestnut with exuberant heart, rope, tassel or bell and pinwheel carvings. Mortise and tenon construction with visible pins and a tongue and groove lid having cleated ends and iron rattail hinges, over rope and tassel carved stiles ending in simple feet, with rope carving extending to a front center panel carved with twin heart and pinwheel decorations and a cartouche shaped iron escutcheon. Later painted date 1837 to front and side. Interior till and a plain base and two-board sides. 21 1/2" H x 50 1/4" W x 22" D. This unusual chest combines hardware similar to that found on other Ohio chests, with a rope and tassel motif suggestive of that found in some American Southern chests, and the hearts and pinwheel motifs and construction techniques often associated with Pennsylvania German furniture. It was pulled out of a barn in Batavia, Ohio, and descended in the owner's family prior to being purchased by the consignor.

CONDITION: Overall good condition with wear to the original painted finish. Date "1837" added later. Some wood shrinkage including full length shrinkage crack to top, light stains and wear to top, oxidation to iron hardware, front base edge with wear and losses. 17th century English oak stool, joined construction with slight overhanging top above a lunette carved apron with baluster carved legs joined by plain square stretchers. 22" H x 17 1/2" W x 10" D.

Paul R. Evans II (American, 1931-1987) Cityscape console table from the PE 300 series manufactured by Directional Furniture, 1970s. Consisting of sculpted high relief sections of polished brass and walnut burlwood and finished on all sides. 28 1/2" H x 52 1/2" W x 11" D. . Biography: Sculptor and furniture designer Paul Evans studied at the Philadelphia Textile Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, School for American Craftsmen, and Cranbrook Academy of Art. In 1955 he opened a showroom with fellow designer Phillip Lloyd Powell in New Hope, PA. According to a Jacob Bernstein New York Times 2017 article, the pair would obtain wood from the reject pile of their neighbor, the woodworker and furniture designer George Nakashima. Evans started making copper chests and sculpted steel-front cabinets in the 1950s and had a two-man show in 1961 at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York (now the Museum of Arts & Design). He became a featured designer for the manufacturer Directional Furniture in 1964 and while working with the company, introduced several furniture lines, such as Argente series, Sculpted Bronze series, Sculptured and Painted Steel, Patchwork Copper, Pewter and Brass, and the Cityscape series (source: the New York Times).

Top with evidence of use-wear including some oxidation the brass, minor staining, light scratching to brass, chipping to wood edges and some wood shrinkage to veneer. Pair of Knoll Associates mid century lounge chairs, both with the original dark red tufted upholstered backs and seats resting on a walnut base. Provenance: consignor purchased the chairs in the Winston-Salem area many years ago, and was told they came from the old Wachovia Bank building in that city.

Incised bracket shaped returns and central demilune incised drop at skirt. Seat to floor: 18 1/2" H. Overall: 37" H x 20" W x 17" D. Circa 1770. 2nd item: American Federal or Hepplewhite mahogany shield back side chair topped by an arched rail with convex molding, splat with carved urn, shaped seat upholstered over rails with nailhead trim above plain straight legs and stretcher. American Classical dressing mirror and stand with marble top, mahogany with poplar secondary, comprising a rectangular mirror supported on two turned posts topped with urn and acorn shaped finials; the white marble top surmounted by a bank with center dovetailed drawer flanked by two false drawers creating interior hidden compartments on either side, over a base with two dovetailed drawers, on a quadruped base with turned pedestal and paw feet. 78"H x 32"W x 21"D. American, probably New York, circa 1830.

Middle Tennessee cherry press, two-part construction, poplar secondary. Top section with ogee cornice transitioning to a plain frieze over rectangular paneled doors. Lower section with heavy ogee mid-molding and one long center drawer flanked by two smaller candle drawers, all dovetailed and cockbeaded. Lower paneled doors and paneled sides transitioning to a shaped skirt with returns. 94" H x 44 1/2" W x 20" D. 19th century with later restorations.

Diminutive benchmade inlaid cherry corner cupboard, one-piece construction, poplar secondary. Arched pediment with flame finial above two string inlaid paneled doors, opening to reveal two scalloped shelves and one plain shelf, above three molded dovetailed medial drawers with string inlay. Lower case with two line inlaid paneled doors opening to one scalloped shelf, the whole resting on shaped bracket feet, extensions of stiles, with a band of contrasting inlay at skirt. 87 1/2" H x 42 1/2" W x19 7/8" D.
