Carroll Cloar (American/Tennessee/Arkansas, 1913-1993) signed offset lithograph titled “Quilts” depicting a young African American girl reclining in a grassy field with a clothesline of colorful quilts and a small house in the background. Pencil signed lower right and numbered 867/1000. Housed in a carved wood frame. The original painting is featured on page 94 of the book “Hostile Butterflies and Other Paintings: Carroll Cloar” published in 1980 by Memphis State University Press. A copy of this book is included with this lithograph. Print sight: 17 3/4″ H x 24 3/4″ W. Print framed: 23 1/4″ H x 30 1/2″ W.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville Collection.
CONDITION: Print in overall very good condition. Frame with minor abrasions to the corner. Book dust jacket with 1″ L tear to front, upper edge, otherwise book in overall very good condition.
