Lot 96: Bronze Mounted Pietra Dura Dresser Box

An Italian rectangular pietra dura jewelry or dresser box with a floral bouquet to the top and two sides and various insects to each end, all against a black ground. Mounted in a gilt bronze frame with shaped corners, figural bird mounts to each lower corner, and a shell-footed base. The interior is lined with padded blue velvet. Unmarked. 5″ H x 9 5/8″ W x 6″ D. 19th century. Note: This box retains the 1928 sales receipt.

CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Two bird finials are slightly loose. One bird is likely an early replacement.
