Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929), scarce historical satirical figurine depicting the French Prime Minister’s head, in papier mache, joined to the velvet body of a tiger. 10 in L. Circa 1910. Note: Clemenceau’s political actions, including his push for strict treatment of Germany at the Treaty of Versailles, earned him the nickname of “The Tiger”. A similar example is in the collection of the Museum of Historical Figurines in Compiegne.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with some spots of wear with paint loss to head, wear and light grime to body.
