Margaret Evangeline Wilson (United Kingdom, 1890-1977) oil on canvas still life, titled "Fleurs de Printemps" ("Spring Flowers"), depicting a large bouquet of perennial flowers in a stone, footed cachepot having putti carrying baskets of fruit in bas relief, set upon a highly reflective wooden surface with a light blue satin curtain draped in the background. Signed "M E Wilson" in black lower right. Possible exhibition label en verso of stretcher with artist's name, title, and possible date of 1932 with additional address label. Housed in a giltwood frame. Sight: 35 1/2" H x 27 1/2" W. Framed: 41 1/2" H x 33 3/8" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Margaret Harold Roberts, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with craquelure and scattered abrasion to paint layer, particularly at edges. Stretched canvas is loose in the frame. Frame with scattered surface wear.
