19th-century watercolor painting on paper street scene depicting a man on horseback at the center of a village street. A US Infantry soldier stands by a large building in left background while another figure stands in a doorway at center. Two US soldiers converse in the street at right. Rendered in muted shades of brown, tan, and blue. Unsigned. Float mounted in an ebonized and multicolor faux tortoise-painted wood frame. Watercolor: 6 3/4" H x 9 1/8" W. Framed: 12 3/4" H x 14 3/4" W.
PROVENANCE: Private South Carolina Collection.
CONDITION: Watercolor is mounted onto cardstock, not examined out of the frame. Corner tips are removed. Light overall fading to colors. Frame with scattered minor wear to paint and minor losses to corners.
