Oil on canvas oval British landscape painting, manner of Thomas Smythe (British, 1824-1888) or Charles Leaver (British, 1825-1906). A figure in a red coat stands in a snowy winter landscape. A stream runs between the figure and a cottage at right. Unsigned. Housed in an ornate giltwood frame. Sight: 25 in. H 30 in.W. Framed: 38 1/4 in. H x 33 1/4 in. W. 19th or early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of John and Lelia Udick.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition, canvas has been lined. With fine craquelure throughout, especially to whites and lighter pigments. Frame with cracking, minor losses, some loose areas, and repairs to molding.
