Pair of English George III mahogany knife boxes with silver mounts and serpentine fronts, having the original fitted interiors, an inlaid compass star to the underside of the lid and alternating light and dark inlaid band around the top and base perimeters. 13 1/4 in. H x 9 in. W x 10 1/2 in D. Late 18th/Early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Dr. James and Rebecca Whicker, Knoxville, TN.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with light general surface wear, abrasions, some scattered wood shrinkage, loss to inlay to inner lid of one box and losses to inner closure of the same box.
