Albert Sandier (French, 1848-1918) oil on canvas tabletop still life painting with a bouquet, violin and sheet music, quill and inkwell, and books before a mural or wallpaper depicting a thick forest. Late 19th/early 20th century. Signed "A. Sandier," lower right. With inventory stickers plus label that reads "''Albert Sandier / He exhibited a painting entitled ''Chrysanthemums'' at the Dijon Salon in 1887" affixed to back of stretcher. Housed in an ornate gilt wood frame. Canvas: 32 3/4" H x 21 11/16" W. Frame: 39" H x 28 1/8" W.
CONDITION: Painting has been lined. Concave indentation to canvas with discoloration and 4 1/2" L stretcher mark, lower right of violin and sheet music book. With surface grime and scattered retouching throughout, primarily to areas of aging cracks or craquelure.
