After Johann or Jan Kupetsky, also spelled Kupetzki (German, 1666-1740), oil on panel Portrait of a Transverse Flute Player or Court Musician, wearing a red velvet cloak and hat. Signed lower right "E. Seith," attributed to German artist Eduard Seith (b. 1887). Housed in an ebonized frame with bead course molding and gilt sight edge. Sight: 10 1/2" H x 8 1/2" W. Frame: 13 1/4" H x 11 1/4" W. Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Memphis collection.
CONDITION: 1/2" vertical scratch center left, background near subject''s hat. 1/8" scratch upper right corner. Tiny light inclusion center right, on subject''s cloak.
