Peter Gabrielse (Dutch, b. 1937) mixed media and electric light bulb composition, untitled, 1989, comprising miniature furniture and other objects and architectural fragments to portray a dilapidated structure with crumbling bricks. 14 1/2" H x 14 1/2" W x 4 1/2" D.
Note: Gabrielse is known for creating interiors in miniature. His parents dealt in antiques and the artist lived in an old house that inspired him from childhood. After studying art as an adult, he became a set designer for theater and television. He eventually began creating "box sculptures" that portray interiors with "an atmosphere of the past, theatrical crumbling elegance with a strong ''dust and spider'' trend."
