Two (2) Kaoru Kawano (Japan, 1916-1965) sosaku-hanga modernist color woodblock prints, 1950s-60s. Both housed under glass in red frames with textured ivory mats. 1st item: Print depicting a girl who holds a red, smiling mask that partially covers her face. Pencil signed "Koaru Kawano," lower right, under artist''s chop mark. Sight: 10 5/8" H x 15 3/8" W. Frame: 15 1/4" H x 20 3/8" W. 2nd item: Print depicting a girl with head in hands who observes a red fish in a tank of blue water at left. Pencil signed "Kaoru Kawano," lower left, under artist''s chop mark. With Lyzon Gallery, Nashville sticker affixed to backing. Sight: 8 1/2" H x 11 1/2" W. Frame: 15 3/8" H x 20 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Richard J. Eskind, Nashville.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. 2nd item with toning to sheet. Not examined outside of frames. Frames with scattered abrasions.
