Four (4) pieces of coin silver and one (1) sterling spoon. 1st item: Rare coin silver tea strainer having a pierced shell form bowl, incuse mark for Tennessee retailer James Pooley, working Memphis 1859-65, with pseudohallmarks attributed to Hall, Hewson and Brower of Albany, NY, 5"L. 2nd item: Egyptian Revival sterling serving spoon with wing motif at juncture of bowl and handle, terminating in a squared end, marks for maker Gorham and retailer F.H. Clark & Co, Memphis (Frederick Harvey Clark, working Memphis circa 1850-d. 1866 as F.H. Clark & Co.). 7 1/2"L. 3rd item: Coin silver tablespoon with fiddle handle, incuse retailer mark for George Reid Calhoun & Co. of Nashville (working 1843-d.1903) and maker''s mark Wood & Hughes of NY. 4th and 5th items: Two (2) coin silver teaspoons with raised grapeleaf designs at ends of fiddle handles, marked J. and W.L. Ward, 106 Chestnut St. Philadelphia. Combined coin silver: 3.43 troy ounces. Sterling spoon: 1.06 troy ounces. All items last half 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Allison and John Beasley, Nashville, TN.
CONDITION: All items except tea strainer are monogrammed. The monograms on the coin silver spoons are extremely worn – otherwise all items in very good condition.
