Four (4) English sterling silver items, including one (1) George III neoclassical style creamer, helmet form, with repousse floral garlands, central cartouche, and square pedestal base, stamped with hallmarks for London, 1784, and Charles Hougham to rim; one (1) Charles Hougham oblong creamer with chased line and wave bands to rim and base and central wreath cartouche, stamped with hallmarks for London, 1799, and Daniel Hockly to spout; one (1) George III toddy ladle with baleen twist handle, stamped with hallmarks for London, 1790, and Peter & Ann Bateman (15 3/8" L); and one (1) Queen Victoria snuff box with chased geometric and line decoration throughout and hinged lid having central emblem with motto "Non Sibi Sed Patria [sic]" ("Not for one's self but for one's country"), stamped to interior with hallmarks for Birmingham, 1846, and Edward SmithVictoria, additional paper label included; . All items stamped with maker's mark and hallmark for Sterling. Houghman creamer monogrammed. Ranging in size from 7/8" H x 3 1/8" W x 1 1/4" D to 5 1/2" H x 5 1/2" W x 2 7/8" D. Combined weight: 11.385 total weighable troy ounces. Provenance: The collection of Gary Glesser of Loudon, Tennessee, by descent from his grandparents, Captain Hoyt and Rachel Holton of Toledo, Ohio. Hoyt Holton became, at age 17, the youngest captain of a Great Lakes Freighter. In the 1960s, Captain Holton participated in a 26-day Admiral Byrd Society trip replicating the explorer's famous transpolar expedition, during which he met the Pope and Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev. Many items in the collection were brought back as souvenirs from that journey and other frequent voyages.
