Continental, possibly Old Paris porcelain Neoclassical style urn or vase with heavy gilt decoration, oval form with winged caryatid handles and central hand painted vignette depicting Leda and the Swan to one side; the reverse with etched gilt wreath and torch decoration, all atop a molded plinth supported on paw feet. 12" H x 7 1/2" W x 3 1/2" D.
PROVENANCE: By descent in the historic Pinckney family of Runnymede Plantation, South Carolina.
CONDITION: Moderate wear to gilding, especially at edges of base; overpainted 1/2'' flake to reverse side, 1/4" chip to front bottom base of urn.
