Georgian mahogany silver or spice chest or collector's cabinet with oak and pine secondary woods. Box has flat top with beaded molding on three sides, a plain front door opening to reveal six short drawers and one long drawer, most dovetailed and lined in brown felt and having small brass knobs with ring pulls. Sits atop a stand with fret carved frieze on front and sides with gadrooned molding beneath, and four canted legs with chip carved corners, ending in low relief carved feet. Feet are joined by arched stretchers to a central disk with gadrooned edges. 48-1/2"H overall (box only, 15-3/4"H) x 11-3/4"W x 12-1/2"D. Probably English, early 19th century on a late 19th or early 20th century stand. Condition: Stand is later than box. One drawer has later plywood sides and bottom. Secondary woods are not consistent on the other drawers indicating some possible repairs to them as well. One glue block missing on stand. Three knobs are missing their ring pulls, one knob is missing entirely. Some stains to front door. Two stretchers loose. Lacks key.
