Mahogany four poster field bed with arched canopy. Headboard posts plain and tapered, with simple curved headboard mortised into them. Columnar posts at foot of bed feature reeded upper shafts over ring turned lower shafts and rectangular blocks to hold ends of rails, and baluster turned and tapered legs. Ends measure 61-5/8"H x 56-3/4"W. American, possibly Massachusetts, circa 1800. Provenance: the estate of Margaret Wemyss Connor, Nashville, Tennessee. Condition: Old surface. Top right headboard post with large break/loss.
