Two (2) Louis Jones (American/Tennessee, 1878-1958) Great Smoky Mountains landscape drypoint etchings. Both signed, titled, and dated in pencil, lower margin. Both housed under glass in original, ebonized wood frames with French lines. 1st item: Etching titled “In The Great Smokies” with a dirt road that winds around a mountainside, 1937. Sight: 4 in. H x 5 1/4 in. W. Frame: 10 1/2 in. H x 12 5/8 in. W. 2nd item: Etching titled “A Mountain Home” with a cabin nestled in a mountain landscape, 1937. Sight: 3 1/4 in. H x 4 1/4 in. W. Frame: 8 3/4 in. H x 10 3/4 in. W. Note: Louis Jones was born in Pennsylvania and worked in Woodstock, NY before he moved to East Tennessee in 1926, where he established the Cliff Dwellers studio in Gatlinburg. He helped promote the area as a scenic tourist destination.
CONDITION: All overall very good condition. Not examined outside of frames. Frames with minor abrasions and losses.
