Large James Arthur Merriam (American/California, 1880-1951) oil on canvas Western desert landscape at sunset or sunrise depicting a small stream with red clay, rocks and vegetation, foreground, and red rock cliffs in the background. Signed “Jas. Merriam” lower left. Housed in likely the original carved giltwood frame. Sight: 27 1/2 in H x 35 1/2 in W. Framed: 36 1/4 in H x 44 1/4 in W.
CONDITION: Painting with light craquelure primarily in sky area and light grime. Framed with minor scattered abrasions and losses.
