Angel De Service Espoy (California, 1879-1963) oil on canvas seascape painting depicting waves pounding onto a shoreline at sunrise. Signed lower left “A. Espoy”. Housed in a gilt-carved rococo-style frame. Sight: 29 1/4 in H x 39 5/8 in W. Framed: 36 in H x 46 in W. Biographical Note: Angel Espoy was known for his seascapes and maritime subjects that reflected his passion for the sea; however, he was also an accomplished painter of California landscapes with poppies and lupines.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with light surface grime. Canvas has been lined. Scattered, minor, primarily pinpoint retouching throughout, especially to sky, largest 1/4 in x 1/8 in.
