Four hand-colored botanical engravings on laid paper after illustrations by Georg Dionysius Ehret (German, 1708-1770) from Christoph Jakob Trew’s PLANTAE SELECTAE (Augsburg, 1750-1773). Each with gilt and printed lettering. Items 1-2: Plate 2, Ananas (Pineapple) and Plate 23, Musae (Banana). Item 1 inscribed “E. Bromilia Ananas / Pine-Apple.” in old ink, lower right. Both sights: 17 11/16 in. H x 12 3/8 in. W. Both frames: 21 1/2 in. H x 16 1/4 in. W. Items 3-4: Plate 29, Podophyllum; and Plate 37, Yucca. Both sights: 16 7/16 in. H x 13 3/8 in. W. Both frames: 21 1/4 in. H x 18 1/4 in. W. All housed under glass in burlwood frames with giltwood liners.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. 1st-2nd items with toning to sheets. 3rd item with creasing to negative space at lower right and to center right edge, longest 2 1/2 in L, plus minor losses to edge at left center. Frames with minor abrasions and losses.
