1st item: Antique Child''s Writing Armchair, possibly Southwest Virginia or East Tennessee, mixed woods with woven seat, octagonal faceted stiles and legs, writing desk surface affixed to one side. 27 1/2"H x 26 1/2"W x 16 1/2"D. Mid 19th century. 2nd item: Small child''s chair, mixed woods; wide curved crest rail over three plain spindles flanked by two ring-turned stiles, thick saddle seat over four turned legs joined by plain tapering stretchers. 24"H x 13"W x 13 1/2"D. Possibly English, last half 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Both items from a private Southern collection. 2nd item was acquired from the late Salli LaGrone of Franklin, TN and by oral history descended in the McGavock family of Carnton Plantation in Williamson County, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Possible old loss to center of top splat; seat is likely an old replacement. Scattered wear and abrasions.
2nd item: Worn seat and surface, but very structurally sturdy.
